Feliz Cumpleaños/Prayer Requests

May 22nd, 2006 · 7 Comments

Happy Birthday.

“Feliz Cumpleaños” is spanish for “happy birthday.” May 15th was my birthday. And the short of what happened is: There was cake, a prank on my office, Estafado for lunch and Pizza for supper and an episode of Alias to finnish it off.

My birthday was noticed by friends and relatives alike, and that made it special. So if you didn’t know or didn’t care my feelings aren’t hurt.

Prayer Requests

At the Malaga Media Center we have a prayer time every morning for the various things that are happening. And right now every facet of our ministry is being interrupted by illness. I am still ok, but here is a breakdown what’s happening:

  • One lady in the correspondence department with mono.
  • One Man from the Radio department with heart problems and surgery coming up this summer.
  • Our Accountant and his wife are battling an infection.
  • Our secretary is getting over a nasty cold.
  • One of our video guys is battling panic attacks and bronchitis.

Names have been withheld because I didn’t get anyone’s permission to put there names on the internet (some people still need to travel into Morocco where Christianity is illegal and association with the Malaga Media Center is frowned upon.)

And every time someone is better another becomes ill. It feels like an attack when every morning there is new case of something travelling around, and it’s scary just waiting in line for your turn to get an ear infection or a nasty cold.

And then there is the network administration issues that keep cropping up that get delegated to me. Windows has not been playing nice and I don’t know what needs to be done with this brand new computer that has been acting irate since the moment it was first turned on. I need some wisdom.

Extra’s - A treat for any of you who didn’t feel like praying just yet.

I found out once I got here, that this is the hometown of Antonio Banderas and Pablo Picasso. I haven’t visited Picasso’s museum and I have not eaten in Antonio’s restaurant, but I want to. Southern Spain is a very hot part of the world, the sun is hot, the wind is hot, the moon is hot and food is bland.

My daily schedule looks a little like this:

08:00
Wake up, make breakfast, read, do some stretches and exercise.
09:00
I am at work checking email.
09:15
Prayer time.
09:45/10:00
The work really starts and I am spending time solving other peoples problems.
12:00
I can finally get around to what I came here for.
14:00
Lunch Break
16:00
Lunch is over and you Canadians are just getting up
16:00-19:00
This time is split between answer messages from the newly awakened Canadians and real legitimate work.

The Evenings have no consistency, Supper might be at 19:30 or 23:30 or not at all. There might be skateboarding, reading, tv or something else.

The weekends have all been entirely different, but on sunday I usually attend a morning and evening service. On the weekends I try to spend as much time with spanish people as I possible can. And now, I have also just started some private spanish lessons (You learn quick when the class is entirely in spanish).

Closeout

We really need some prayer and discernment here on this end. Life is good, but I do miss home. Thanks for you time.

    Jamie,
Thnaks for the prayer requests - I printed off the requests from the Malaga Media Website, and am using them on a daily basis, but this is better. Will also pray about the computer problems, and also try not to interrupt your work too much when us Canadians get up!
    Chow!

    Hey James,
Sounds like the whole works of you must be doing great things for God cause there sure seems to be enemy attack. Will add the requests to the prayers that go up for you. Joshua 1:9 is my verse for you.”Be strong and brave. Do not be terrified. Do not lose hope. I am the Lord your God. I will be with you everywhere you go.
p.s we miss you too…our hot tub has been rather empty!

    Blessings in Jesus Name.

Just a former missionary to Mexico passing by.

Strongly recommend getting up at 6am and spending the first two hours of your day in the Word.

Don’t lose sight of the Vision God has given you.

    By His Grace,

    Marc

Marc. The day slowly gets earlier. And with that it’s activities get more drawn out, including the reading. Two Chapters a morning just does not feel like a lot.

    Hi Jamie,

Of a necessity the first fruits belong to the Lord. Don’t let the enemy take that from you by inch nor by mile.

7-9 every morning was set aside for both the leadership and those we were discipling for time in the word. The daily commitment was 2 chapters in the Old Testement (go through it once a year), 5 chapters in Psalms (once a month), one chapter in Proverbs (once a month) and 2 chapters in the New Testement (twice a year).

I can not encourage you enough to set aside time that only belongs to Him and that nothing is allowed to interupt. It will be your Spiritual life’s blood.

    By His Grace,

    Marc
