Musings and Upcoming Events - June 29, 2006

June 29th, 2006 · 1 Comment

Today is June 29th of the year 2006. Today is thursday. Today is the first day of the Feria in Puerto de la Torre (you don’t need to know where that is till you come and visit). It is 3:30 in the afternoon. And I want to share some of my life with you, the devoted reader.

Musings

For the first time ever:

  • I saw whisky, rum and beer being sold at an elementary school graduation.
  • I saw beer being offered as a beverage choice at a church picnic (and it wasn’t non-alcoholic )
  • I took communion and the wine was real wine

They do things a little different here than in conservative northern Alberta Canada.

Apparently I have a Canadian accent, which is different from an american accent. Somehow. Just don’t use the words about, again, and I am Canadian and people might not notice.

Upcoming Events

Stuff happens around here. And these are a few of the major things that I think people should know.

  • Saturday, July 2nd, two days from now, the Church I attend with the most regularity is having a year end barbecue and I hear that there is going to be a pool. I haven’t been in a pool since I left Canada. I am really excited.

  • July 8th-9th, I am planning on going to Madrid. “Why?” you might ask. Because I can. I know some people there right now, but they are leaving soon and then I will have no excuse to go.

  • July 15th-25th, I am going on a 195km, that’s right, a one hundred ninety five kilometer walk through the North of Spain. It’s called the Camino de Santiago, of the “way of James (the is the apostle).” I need to find some supplies and to make some travel arrangements really quick.

  • Mid-August, I really should know the exact dates but they are on my plane tickets and my plane tickets are back at my house, I am going to Switzerland for the Avant All-Europe Conference. Poor me, I have to go to Switzerland for a week. Well you could be a missionary to, I hear pretty much every organization is looking for people, or you could go online and buy plane tickets and just go.

Well that’s all for now.

    Hi Jamie,

Be careful of Churches that server “wine and spirits” at their fellowships! Wow….

If you ever make it over to Cáceres, I highly recommend that you look up Prince and Gina Parker there. They are a blessing and strong in the Lord. Fellowship or correspondence with them will refresh your soul.

You may find their blogs at:
