Musings and Upcoming Events - The September Edition

September 23rd, 2006 · 1 Comment

If you wanted to know what September holds for a Mennonite Canadian missionary on the south coast of Spain, here is the rundown.

Musings

Summer is officially over.

  • The daytime highs are a mere 26-29 degrees celsius. I know, that’s not by any means cold, but it’s nearly twenty degrees cooler than August
  • People are back from vacation. Everyone is here now that was missing at various points in the summer. Now we just wait for the arrival of Beth from getting her visa.

Things are changing.

  • I have switched the hosting of jamiefehr.com to SiteRise.net, a great host with great plans starting at US$36/Year (my last host was US$99/year). They are the ones responsible for making it possible for you to view this right now.
  • I moved. It’s true. I now live a lot closer to the hospital (Yay! Ambulance Sirens! All-night!). I have two Cuban roomates (Paquito and Abdiel) and one American roommate (Joel). Abdiel and Paquito have amazing testimonies and intend to publish them here sometime.
  • We now have a pastor to the missionaries. John and Joanne Malone have come to Malaga to be spiritual nourishment to the 50-60 missionaries and missionary kids that Avant has in this area. I know 50-60, it’s a lot.
  • And I have mentioned this before, but this week is the long awaited, much anticipated of arrival of our new director couple, Dan and Gayle Lippincot.

Upcoming Events

A man has to keep busy.

  • Production should begin very shortly on the new Malaga Media Center recruitment video. Or maybe I should call it a commercial or a spot, it’s only going to be 30 seconds in length. I have spent a lot of time pruning the script into the 216 most powerful and informative words that I could think of. It should be really good.

  • This week James, Rudy, Rodney and Andy are going to show up in Malaga. I will be showing them Spain and traveling with them through Switzerland, Austria and Italy. It should be a grand two weeks.

  • There is an Arabic production scheduled for mid-October, things are still falling in and out of place for that. I may be a part of it.

  • And not lastly, but the last thing I will mention is that I have a special surprise coming up for all the people of the EMC Church in La Crete, but you are just going to have to wait to find out what it is.

So that about does it for now. Exercise is calling.

now i know why your site was down last week. Will you be ‘Out of Touch” while you are out with the guys?

Its good to hear that the production (or at least the script) is coming along for the video. Sometimes that is the hardest. I have been praying and also recruited a certain grandmother to pray about this as well.

Lastly - I sure wish i would be there for the surprise for EMC, but I’ll have to hear about it from the “Mennonite Pipeline”……..
Enjoy your holidays with the GUYS!
