Nerja, the Best Beaches in Spain

September 3rd, 2006 · 2 Comments

I had heard much about the beauty and tranquilness of a small spanish town called Nerja and for a long time had really wanted to go check it out for myself. Well Saturday, September 2nd 2006 that finally happened.

La Cueva de Nerja

It’s a large underground cavern that has been readied for the viewing pleasure of the all to common British tourist spending their summer vacation on the Sun Coast. The bus out to the cave is only 85 cents but the entrance fee is a full seven euros. While the cave is pretty cool I don’t know if it’s worth the seven euros, the only thing that I saw that really interested me was this guy and now that his picture is online I don’t know that it anyone really needs to explore the untold depths.

Balcón de Europa

This is a balcony that offers excellent views of the Costa del Sol from atop the large rock that it was built on. I hear it’s a great place to spend an evening wandering around after a tough day of beach-going. I didn’t get to find out for myself as I had other plans for the evening.

Las Playas

The beaches of Nerja were the most refreshing thing I have come across in a long time. They were clean and uncrowded, there was hardly anyone around, there were fish in the water and the scenery was gorgeous. It was in every was the exact opposite of the beaches of Malaga.

The Conclusion of the Matter

Nerja might just have become my newest favorite place on the coast. It’s almost like going to the Caribbean, well maybe not, but it’s a lot less touristy than many places you’ll find on the Costa del Sol or Yucatan peninsula and I really do intend to return (Bus tickets to and from Malaga are only seven euros).
