I have a devious plan for this Christmas season and while I would love to explain, in detail, it’s inception and history, how it’s been going so far, and how I intend to continue with it in the future. But I think first I need to say what it is and then see how much time I want to spend on the explanation.
I intend to mooch on other peoples generous Christmas spirits to get as many free meals as I can this holiday season.
I just don’t have food in my house nor the desire to go do any kind of shopping so close to Christmas, or maybe what I am trying to say is that I’m cheap and loathe grocery shopping so that’s the next best idea I have.
At any rate, I hope that this doesn’t discourage any one from inviting me over, I’ll be your friend regardless, I just think that friendships in general benefit from a good time of fellowship over a meal I didn’t prepare.
So far this plan has been more or less a success in two out of the last three weeks I have eaten nothing but the free food provided by my work and people who’ve had pity on my dire situation. For example:
- The first week in December I was out working in Seville at the conference and during that I got three all you can eat buffet meals a day.
- The second full week in December I was working here in Malaga on a video shoot and I ate a really good free lunch everyday along with a lot of really good snacks throughout the day.
- Last night I showed up at my spanish teachers house to say happy birthday and got some free food.
- Today I am again invited over to my spanish teachers house for lunch and then for the evening we’re doing an MMC event at which there will be food.
- Christmas Day is already planned and I will be spending that with my spanish teacher and her family.
So while, this doesn’t cover every meal between now and the new year but I don’t think that I shall actually be needing to go do shopping between now and then except to pick up some sandwich bread and meat.

I was in the local grocery store yeserday and met an elderly woman doing her grocery shopping. “I hate this job”, she said somewhat jokinly. I agreed stating it was so much like laundry - you repeat it week after week and its never done. Jamie know that your in with millions of others who would rather do a ton of other things than shop groceries!!
