Word of the Week, Circumvent

July 11th, 2007 · No Comments

Circumvent verb

Find a way around (an obstacle).

  • Overcome (a problem or difficulty), typically in a clever and surreptitious way: terrorists found the airport checks easy to circumvent.

  • archaic deceive; outwit: he’s circumvented her with some of his stories.

This word came out during the only five minutes of Arrested Development that I have watched and I thought it would be a good one to share with the world. I then proceeded to share that word with my Thursday night soccer crew, and circumvented the opposing defense a whopping four times to put the ball in the net. Yet despite this our team lost 7-5.
