- Obsequious adjective
-
Obedient or attentive to an excessive or servile degree: they were served by obsequious waiters.
I learned this word while watching the episode of The Simpsons where Homer, in an effort to prevent Marge from finding out how bad his money management skills are, borrows money from his sisters-in-law. They then proceed to make his life miserable, and at one point he protests to which his sisters-in-law respond, you can’t spell obsequious without I-O-U. Homer concedes that he doesn’t know how to spell that word and then proceeds to do there bidding. You now know better.

Thanks for the lesson…..I did meet someone this week in London (stayed with Rosie who worked here last year and Andrea and Ian and kids were there too) who works at a B&B (a very bare bones B & B, without any amenities except a towel) He works there 24 / 7 literally with a break of 2 hrs to buy supplies, milk, bread ect.
He is Islamic from India and works for an Islamic woman of his caste.
Interesting, we continue an online relationship, hoping to entice him in some interest in The Lord Jesus. He certainly has a Joseph heart and obsequious attitude. Hope you are happy and well…Sure do miss your personality here as well as you!!
Loving thoughts, Gwynn
