Car Woes, Part 3 (Updated)

August 14th, 2007 · No Comments

I really am getting tired of this theme, but last Friday in Vegas, as in the Las Vegas, I hit a small pickup truck while making a lane change. I really don’t feel like going into details but this one really is proving to be the most trial-some of all woes.In other news, I have slept in the bottom of the Grand Canyon, in a sleazy Vegas hotel, at 10,000 ft in Hover Wilderness Area and by Cathedral Lake in Yosemite. It’s been a good trip minus a few woes.

I have now arrived safe and sound in La Crete and the Chrysler Pacifica that faithfully carried me all the way from El Paso, TX to Yellowknife, NWT is now at the body shop and insurance is paying for all the damages for both parties involved except for a $500 deductible. How excellent.

So what happened was that I neglected to make a shoulder check while changing lanes in the emptiest street in downtown vegas and it was right at that moment that a small pickup truck that had just entered the street decided it would be a good time speed on by me. The incident was my fault.

Anyway when all was said and done the damage looked fairly substantial and so we exchanged information but I told the guy that I didn’t want to deal with police or insurance companies and that I would take care of his truck, he agreed verbally to those terms and we parted ways.

The next he called me to tell that he was suffering from incredible whiplash and that he needed to go the hospital and that he couldn’t work. What a load of crap. We impacted his truck at maybe 10 mph and I thought if this was the way it was going to be I didn’t want to deal with it. So I called my grandmas insurance company (as it was her vehicle involved in the collision) and they got everything sorted very quickly and painlessly. Two thumbs up Cooperators!
