Fiesta Post-Camino

This is a short story about me being a patriotic Canadian in a foreign land. It all starts with the Camino de Santiago and ends with the sad departure of my good friends Ian and Mayca. But the actual event, the Fiesta Post-Camino 2006 happened on the night of Saturday September the 16th 2006.

I hope that you have read my write-up about the Camino de Santigo, it’s pertinent to the discussion at hand not because I am going to refer to something from the article without explaining the context, but because had I not done the first event, there would not have been this second one.

Life after the Avant Europe Conference

The Avant-Europe Conference 2006 was a lot like bible camp. Except it was for missionaries. We had a speaker, we had activities, and we had a location. The only difference between this conference and any bible camp that I have been to, is that this bible camp had a lot of parents attending.

Camino de Santiago dos mil seis

This post should be pretty exciting. So much happened in the last 10 days that I could probably spend the next 10 days writing about it. Instead I want to share a few facts, memories, history and relevance to me.

A very brief History

Basically the Camino de Santiago exists because it is believed that the bones of the apostle James are buried there in Santiago de Compostela. And as a result they built a Cathedral and people make a pilgrimage to it have have there sins pardoned. Really, you can get a pilgrims passport and as long as your credentials are good when you get to Santiago de Compostela you can get a Certificate of Pardon for past sins and exemption from Purgatory. I didn’t have proper credentials and so I did not get my certificate, I guess I will just have to continuing trusting in God.
